The MTA Long Island Rail Road has suspended service on the Montauk Branch east of Speonk.
According to the MTA, the line was closed at 8:30 for "safety reasons due to snow accumulation and visibility issues."
The MTA, which has an "arsenal of machinery" on hand, they report, with nearly 16,000 gallons of anti-freeze, 200 portable snow blowers, nine front-end and payloaders, said the line will be restored as soon as it is deemed safe.
However, the LIRR said it may suspend service on other branch lines before the storm is through for customer safety.
