Peter Campus

Peter Campus presented to a sold out crowd at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill March 15.

A pioneer in the video art movement, his work began back in 1968 with early video. Originally schooled in experimental psychology at Ohio State, he moved into experimental video. His work has been exhibited worldwide for more than 40 years.  A native of Bellport, Campus was the second artist in the “Artist's View” series at the Parrish.

More than 50 people enjoyed an intimate evening in the Parrish gallery. Campus discussed his work, his inspiration and techniques then answered questions from the audience. Campus’s work, titled "Passage at Bellport Harbor" is on display and part of the permanent collection at the Parrish.  Peter also is working with the “How the Eye is Formed” program at the Parrish. A juried show of new experimental video, he selected the works shown in that series.

Campus' video landscape "Passage at Bellport Harbor" is currently on view in the Parrish's ongoing exhibition "American Views: Artists at Home and Abroad."
