UPDATE 4:15 p.m. - A Hampton Jitney rear-ended a Mercedes sedan, which in turn hit a commercial truck, on Montauk Highway in Water Mill on Tuesday afternoon near the Deerfield Road intersection.
No one on the bus was reportedly injured, but an occupant of the Mercedes was airlifted by a medevac helicopter following the crash, which occured shortly after 2 p.m. Police did not know the extent of the victims injuries.
Bridgehampton, Southampton Village and Southampton Town ambulance volunteers all responded to treat and transport other crash victims, and Southampton Fire Department was on scene as well.
The road was closed for more than an hour between Davids Lane and Scuttle Hole Road.
UPDATE 3:37 p.m. - The westbound lane has been reopened. The eastbound lane remains closed.

Montauk Highway in Water Mill remains closed as of 3:15 p.m. Tuesday between Davids Lane and Scuttle Hole Road following a crash, according to Southampton Town police.
Sgt. Howard Kalb said the accident was reported at 2:07 p.m. and a medevac helecopter was called to airlift one victim. Kalb said he does not know at this time the extent of the victim's injuries, or how many vehicles were involved in the accident.
