Mother Nature's cruel assault on Long Island in the past two weeks has pushed many Long Islanders, stuck without power, heat and sometimes running water for 11 days, over the edge. And they they're directing most of that ire at the Long Island Power Authority.
A quick search for "LIPA" on Twitter shows the intense frustrations launched at Long Island's electric company, which still has 200,000 customers to restore, not counting the thousands in Long Beach and the Rockaways whose numbers they removed from its public-facing outage map. It's a harrowing list of gripes and pleas from folks who have now weathered a hurricane and a nor'easter and find the worst disaster of all to be LIPA.
Many are sending their tweets directly to the media, others are sent straight to the governor, all with the same request: Help.
