FEMA officials met with Republic Airport officials on Sunday to discuss the deployment plan from the Armed Forces Reserve Center at Republic Airport. National Guard troops are descending on the area to stand at the ready to assist with the storm's impact and aftermath.

Anyone on the East End who needs assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency due to damage from Hurricane Sandy can talk to officials face-to-face in East Hampton on Friday and Saturday.

Town Supervisor Bill Wilkinson said he received word on Thursday evening that FEMA representatives will be on hand on Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

FEMA trailers will be set up at the East Hampton Town Hall complex, Wilkinson said. They will assist residents and business owners who suffered damages during Hurricane Sandy.

Officials were supposed to arrive on Wednesday, but the nor'easter caused them to postpone their arrival on the South Fork.

Earlier this week, Wilkinson said he was delighted federal officials were going to be in East Hampton. "It's very important people get their questions answered," Wilkinson said. "It's just a great assistance to the residents to get their questions answered swiftly." He said he thought it was a "great coup" to have the trailers place in East Hampton to serve the region and "ease the burden of those who suffered from storm damage."

Correction: The times of FEMA will be available in East Hampton was corrected.
