1. King Kullen, Bozzuto's Donate $100,000 to Those Hardest Hit by Hurricane Sandy
King Kullen Grocery Co. and its wholesale grocery supplier, Bozzuto’s Inc., are donating $100,000 in the form of supermarket gift cards so that Long Islanders impacted by Hurricane Sandy can obtain food and other basic supplies. IGA stores supplied by Bozzuto’s also contributed to the $100,000, which is being donated to Long Island Cares/Harry Chapin Food Bank.
2. Helping Kids with Second Chance Toys
Second Chance Toys is a nonprofit corporation founded in 2006 to rescue and recycle plastic toys for children in need by donating them to community organizations. Because non biodegradable plastic is kept out of our landfills, Second Chance Toys is helping the environment at the same time.
3. Family Service League Offers Counseling, Referral Assistance
Family Service League, one of Long Island’s largest non-profit human services agencies, is living up to their mantra “Restoring Hope. Rebuilding Lives” by offering crisis intervention counseling and information and referral services to individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
4. Union Head: Electrical Workers Respond to Crisis
Don Daley wrote, "Every Long Islander has had to sacrifice because of Hurricane Sandy. But few have given as much as the hard-working, dedicated electrical workers who are restoring power to Long Island’s homes, businesses, hospitals and transit."
